Please remember we are unable to provide representation until you have been a member for 13 weeks - however, this does not include consultation

The 4 week rule explained..........

Many members have been fully paid subscribers of UNISON for many years. They pay their subscriptions regularly and rarely contact us for assistance, but we are there if we are needed. Some new members only join when they are facing difficulties in the workplace such as threat of discipline, grievance or redundancy.

National UNISON rules state that new members have had to qualify with 4 weeks of paid membership before they are able to avail themselves of free union legal assistance. The branch has incorporated the 4 weeks waiting rule to include assistance at meetings with union trained branch representatives.

This means that you cannot access the full UNISON service until after 4 weeks have passed. So we will be unable to provide representation for you at a disciplinary or grievance hearing if you have only just joined!

We see too many staff who are not members needing help when it is too late...

Join now, it could happen to you!
